First some basic stuff

The most needed products are from the sugarmill and the dairy. You need these 2 machines running. At all times

Grow and harvest the fields is a main priority. It's the basic ingredient for animal food and machines. And you want to feed your animals, so there is sufficient eggs, milk, bacon etc. at all times 

Crops and animal products are needed, especially for the sugarmill and the dairy

And you need to have sugarmill and dairy running as much as possible. Fill the productionslots up with items that takes a long time to produce during the night, or just before you are absent from the game a longer period. Make the short time products when you can fill the production slots within a few hours

Harvesting crops often give you building block loots as a bonus as well.

The most sought after items in Hay Day is building blocks, axes, saws, pickaxes, shovels, dynamite and TNT

The best way to get building block items is to feed your pets. So the general priority number 1 is to get as many pets as possible. To buy pets you need tokens

There is a lot of activities. You can't do them all all the time, so focus on the ones that gives you tokens. You get tokens from 

1. Boat deliveries

2. Truck orders involving items from the mine or made by the smelting furnaces. Smelting furnaces uses items from the mines as well.

Eventually you want all 5 smelting furnaces up and running at all times

For this you need pickaxes or, if you are below level 34, shovels. These are random drops. And you never have enough. The best way to get these, is to select a day when you have the time, and then hire Tom for a day. Use Tom to get as many pickaxes (shovels) as possible. This will cost you diamonds, but you get most if not all back when you use the items in the mine, so the cost is actually very low

So keep those smelting furnaces up and running and keep filling the boats

The best thing is too keep stock of all items, so that when you get a boat order, you have most of the items ready. Ask for help as well. And this is essential. If you want other players to see that you need help (beside those in your neighbourhood) you need an advert up in your shop. If you have an add in your shop, help will come by easy. 

As you can only put an add up every 5 minutes, you basically want to put the add on an item that other player don't want to buy. I use indigo. Chili, eggs, wheat should be good as well. But as the game is expanded the items nobody wants can change. Cloche hats and tofu hotdogs seem to be the most unwanted items after the last expansion. Whatever, There is always a few items to choose from. I always put 1 item with the add in the last slot, and the same item in the first slot. This way potential buyers often just get the one in the first slot, the one without the add. 

So keep them adds up so you can help with the boat orders

Another good source for building blocks is the town. So servicing guests in the town is your next priority after getting tokens to get pets

Diamonds

Don't waste them

Use them on Tom so you can get pickaxes (shovels)

Use them to buy sufficient production slots in your machines

Use them to make diamond rings (but this is not that essential)

Don't use diamonds on anything else unless you have enough
